The DODX flat cars I was familiar with rode on 6 wheel Buckeye trucks. I
believe they are detailed in an old Mainline Modeler issue, September 1996.
I can remember seeing a lot of these cars at the Warren Avenue tank plant in
the Detroit area 15 or so years back. You could walk up on the sidewalk and
photograph the new tanks being loaded on the cars by crane. I'm sure the plant
is closed now, but anyone with a camera would be viewed with a lot more
suspicion these days anyway... Not sure if there are any 'adaptable' cars in
S scale for this.
