"The reason we do things like that is because we enjoy the journey and
are not overly concerned about the destination. At least for me who
has never scratch built anything in his life. Cheers....Ed L."

Hi Ed and others,

Ed, you are a Jewel!

I have built many models over the years, that's my era.
Many times later, someone produces it, sometimes I buy the new one, other times
I don't.

I'm proud to be a Frank Titman type modeler, but our modeling times are coming
to an end.

Andy Malette, John Degan, Bob Nicholason and all the others are excellent S
scale modelers

Example; "The Canadian S Scale Workshop uses code 83 on its main and code 70 on
its
sidings. We try to represent a branchline and the code 83 might be a bit on
the large size. I actually prefer the code 70 because when I measured the rail
height in
Palmerston, Ontario, that is what came closest to the correct height for
that branchline hub. "

I marvel at that kind of workmanship, but it is not in my grasp of things
especially at my age 78 and working with a very old layout! Many of my fellow
near by modelers have passed on, yet I continue to strive in keeping the
Jefferson Central alive for one more day.

Frank and I (and many others) won all kinds of Awards at our National
Conventions over the years, but our time has past, it is now in the hands of
the new S scale modelers and their work is absolutely marvelous and pretty darn
infinite.

I do ask this one question ... Do they have layouts and do they run their
equipment on it?
It is Okay to build showcase models, but it is better to run them.

Wonderful work by all who show and write on this marvelous list, I read it
everyday!

Cordially,
Bill Fraley
