> I've tried for a couple of days and the catalog PDF won't come up,
the price list only has numbers without description, the site says
they won't take orders over the phone, and there is no email. Looks
like a great place to do business with.

Hello Ed....
Always glad to meet another Ed. Remember, two Ed's are better than
one! Heh, heh.......
In this case, appearances can be deceiving. In spite of all your
true comments above, Russ Clover is a nice, honest and reputable
fellow. He is getting along in years now and does not want to be
bothered with phone calls and complex (to him) computer stuff. He
gets to things at his time of choosing -- not someone else's. It is
a home-based business for him and not a primary source of income. I
doubt he makes much profit and is doing much of this for our benefit
rather than his own. Cutting wood ties for years on end with his own
table saw has left him quite hard of hearing (not truly deaf, yet)
which probably accounts for not wanting to deal with phone calls.
My suggestion is to send in your money and wait for the catalog and
then order what you want. The illustrations are really neat. Yes,
it is slower than the online internet process, but what's your
hurry? This is a hobby, y'know. Relax and take it easy. Russ
typically ships stuff out about once per week -- usually on Friday.
At least he is honest and has the stuff in stock (generally) which is
more than I can say for some folks out there pretending to be
business establishments.
By the way, if those copper clad ties are intended for use in the
FAST TRACKS turnout fixures, I would suggest obtaining the ties only
from FAST TRACKS since they will fit the fixture perfectly without
any slop. On the other hand, if having ties that are not exactly
parallel is more to your liking, than some slop could be considered a
good thing. On the other hand, if the ties are wider than the
fixture, you could be up the creek without a paddle.
Have fun....Ed L.
