Hi All, I just thought I would give y'all an update on my Solidworks modeling. I was about 80% done the PRR 2D-F1 Archbar truck sideframe in March. I got a point that I was pretty happy with my progress. But I am usually pretty fickle. I went on to obsess on other things. It is just my way. Plus I miscalculated somewhere and the wheelbase was 2" too long. I thought I would have to do it all over again.
Over the past 2 weeks I have seemingly hit another level of skills, doing things I could not before. So I have been a drawing fool, making new parts, and fixing old ones. The biggest revelation came in realizing that I should tree the parts and get them printed as 1 item. It is much more economical that way. Flash forward to midnight last night. I figured out how to fix the wheelbase problem. It was somewhat like the opposite of stretching a limo! And so it goes. The wheelbase is now correct. So while there will not be trucks on our table at the convention, fixing the wheelbase issue has reinvigorated me. It is just a matter of time before I will have some in my hands. The CJSS meet in late September is now a possible goal. Depending on prices, current plans are to include 2 different bolsters (Cast & Fabricated sheet). I am not sure if the journal box covers will reproduce well, so they may be separate as well like PRS trucks. I have updated my Solidworks page. http://www.lanestrains.com/SolidWorks_Modeling.htm Please check it out.
