Jim/Bob, Re the 2-8-2's, I'd vote for the "light" version. Paul Schilling In a message dated 7/26/2008 4:50:03 P.M. Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
Jim, Being fairly new to S-scale, How do we contact Bob? At present, the USRA designs are a "natural", based on materials he already has and will be getting, but I've already suggested a B&O Q-4 and the USRA lighter sister, the Q3, along with some 2-8-0 iterations to compliment SHS' fine engine. There are MANY options here for the majority of roads. The goal is to use my CAD/SLA/urethane process with machined brass frames, wheels and rods to build a truly robust engine that's easily modified by the modeler familiar with "plastic-like" material (urethane) used to produce the superstructure, tender, cab and details. Delicate accessories, like ladders, steps and railings will be a combination of wire and brass etchings. Urethane will only be used where structural integrity allows. While these will not be truly "brass engines", the quality will be equal to or surpass what we've come to expect from the importers but at a lower price. By combining common features, such as domes, stacks, cabs, pilots, tenders, etc., we can offer a myriad of engines, with pre-assembled, blackened/painted mechanisms. It's too early to tell what we'll offer first; there are SO many options, but we are focusing on USRA-type 2-8-2s first, then a Pacific, and an 0-6-0 or 0-8-0. Bob is the "guy behind this"; please direct your questions, comments and concerns to him . I'm just the "git 'er done" guy!
