I'm coming late to the conversation, having been away for 10 days. A few
points:

1. Whoever will produce anything in the way of a steam locomotive will be doing
a service.

2. "We" don't already have a light USRA Mike. True, Overland once produced it
in brass. Now how many people can really afford one if one should show up on
E-bay? The basic premise is that whenever something comes out in brass, "we"
don't have it; the few who can afford the beautiful models do, but quite a few
of us cannot afford to pony up the cash for the outstanding creations that have
recently been offered.

3. Yes, the Lionel Mike is out there, and I for one would not complain at the
infidelity to certain detail if the company produced it for scalers or if a
conversion kit were available from some source. But the company ignores scale
modelers and has no interest in producing a scale version. So "we" don't have
that either.

4. Isn't the AM Pacific essentially a heavy USRA Pacific? True, few roads had
the heavy USRA Pacific, but couldn't AM use the same boiler to crank out a
heavy USRA Pacific? It might be easier to persuade Ron to offer such a
locomotive, or not? Sure, one would have to detail it to make it more
realistic, but that could be done.

5. Didn't the Scale Locomotive & Supply offer a heavy USRA Mike? I know they
offered a light USRA Mike.
