Rusty,
Danny and I have purchased quite a few items from Ladd Houda's
collection, directly from him and thru eBay. Several cars that started
as AF or Marx are now greatly detailed jewels complete with fresh
paint ,underbody, cut levers, weathering, etc. He also scratchbuilt
and/or kitbashed many cars and locomotives. Even RTR pieces received
the Ladd Houda touch, (extra details and/or lettering, weathering,
etc). I was fortunate to purchase a complete D&RGW passenger train, a
mixture of HW and LW equipment. Each car is superdetailed with
underbody, grab irons, seats, and folks sitting in them. His other
favorite road is/was MP/TP.
I've never personally met Ladd but have talked on the phone with him
upon several occasions. He usually made it to the Spring Spree where
he had sold much of collection. I think some of the Prototype S Parts
passenger car parts may still be available on a limited basis.
He is truly a "Just go build it!" person and he has contributed
greatly to S scale with "how to" articles, parts, and excellent
modeling.
Billy, (with hardly any hair at all)
