Jim,

Thanks for responding. Yes, you did a beautiful job. The reason for my
interest is that last year I converted an SHS PS-2 covered hopper to an ACF
covered hopper with square hatches. That was a job, but you have gone way
beyond me. The road that I model, the CGW, had the type you did and the type I
did with the full panel all the way across with no view through. I want to try
the type you did. Do you recall the year and the month of the RMC magazine
that published the plans for the car? Trust me: I can most certainly
appreciate the effort you went to.

Tom

This is a beautiful model, and I would like to learn from you how
you did it.

Tom, thanks for the compliments. I have built at least one of each of
the LNE six different ACF and PS cement cars (I bought the SHS PS2s -
-- life is too short to building something that is available.)

They are all based on drawings from Model Railroad Craftsman but I
used the extreme dimensions as detailed in the LNE Equipment Guide
for the various classes. They are all constructed from styrene, brake
detail from Huff and Puff casting, the lettering is from CDS. I
built them in batches of three and have 13 cars (one pilot model to
see if I could do it) Needless to say the hopper bays are a pain and
if I build any more I will cast the hopper bays, getting all those
pieces together was a bugger!

I have other cars posted in the S Group foto file (rolling stock of
the LNE is thge caption -- I think).

regards
Jim Schall (LNE in Tennessee)
