Yes, Don I did that, "Loeb Investments" was sold to Gale Hall and Billy Click when I sold everything and moved to Colorado in the mid seventies. As far as I can remember my original design and brass master pattern made by Jack Troxell in Houston for me, did have the bottom depresion that sat between the rails. It was not intended to gauge the rails, meerly to properly center the gage for proper coupler alighnment longitudinaly. There was also, if my memory is correct, a flat lip that stuck out to the front that gave the proper trip pin height clearance indication. The "Herald" and "S-Gaugian had a number of my ads in the over the years showing th gage and they, as well as RMC and MR had reviews.
