Hi,

I was cleaning out boxes yesterday and found three "Delaware Valley" Ore
Hoppers that we built back in the sixties.

They had the Kadee 5 couplers on them and as I have converted my equipment over
to the Kadee 802, I compared the two and I will admit that the Kadee 5's are
half the size of the 802. The Ore Cars also had very old brass scale wheels on
them, what difference to what we are running today.

John Bortz was offering the kit for the big price of $3.50 each, or a 3 in 1
Ore Car special @ $8.50, back then.
(The reason why the Delaware Valley club [now, the Lehigh Valley] gave up
producing the car, was that they got tired of soldering all those hoppers
together, so John took it over on his own.)

Anyway, I now can see why the S scale modelers are putting up a fuss about
someone producing a true S scale couplers.

"S"ee Ya,
Bill Fraley
