It just goes to show how much attention I pay to things. I've only bought a
couple of new SHS box cars because they never have the road names I'm looking
for. I've bought all the others used, mostly from ebay. The two I did buy
indeed came with AF couplers. I had to look to see if you were correct. I
bought them to repaint and haven't gotten around to taking them out of the
boxes yet. I must say that I'm quite surprised and a little disappointed.

You don't? You leave the AF-size couplers on? They don't come with SHS
scale couplers, you have to buy those separately.
Some of us use whatever strikes our fancy at the time. I put American
Models scale couplers on cars sometimes. They couple with the other "scale"
couplers listed, except maybe Sergent.
