Bob Chaparro Moderator Model Railroads of Southern California S Scale Layout On Tour Peter Gagnon- 9:00 TO 3:00 4607 Natalie Drive, San Diego Peter has a very compact S scale highrail layout based loosely on the Santa Fe in the transition era (c. 1950). The four and a half by seven foot pike is in the form of a twice around loop that passes through the factious Southern California foothill town of Wrights. The layout features two short scratch built timber trestles and a kit- built timber pony truss bridge as well as several culverts. The mainline also features a short tunnel and a rock cut. A two-track yard was recently added, and a turnout is in place for an engine service module that is still in the planning stages. Recent extensions include a packing house and icing facilities. Currently, the layout is housed in a back bedroom of Peter's house. DCC power is by Lenz Set100, with two of the road's four engines being equipped with Soundtrax units. A second throttle is available for guest operators. Track is mostly sectional Code 125 nickel silver with flex track used on the trestles, approaches to turnouts and in the yard. Minimum curve radius is approximately 19 inches. There is a small pond and stream where the yard connects to the main. ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
