Frank Sergent told me a while back that the only reason he discontinued them is because the machines, etc that he uses to produce them (both HO and S couplers) has to be upgraded (again) for their new-new HO coupler, so they couldn't make them even if they weren't discontinued. But I interpret their being "discontinued" the same way as I interpreted the "discontinued" HO coupler the first time they revised it... as in, "something new and better coming" or... "out with the old, in with the new."
