Rusty

While I am currently a little light on long term Tsunami installed locos,
there are tons planned for installation starting in the near future. In some
cases I will be swapping the NCE D13 (1.2 amp 2 amp peak) for the 1 amp
Tsunami.

While my running is on the flat, not up and down grades with 70 cars in tow,
I think the 1 amp constant of the Tsunami is on the edge, but still
sufficient. Only you will know what your running habits are. Your concern is
at the hopefully brief time just before you break free and slip. That is
your highest current draw time.

Think about this. If you smoke 1 on overdraw, most companies, possibly
including SoundTraxx have a no questions asked replacement policy that is
much less then the cost of a new unit. If you carefully cut back the shrink
wrap, you can unplug the newly toasted and send it back for replacement
without taking out the wiring harness.

I mostly look at it like this.... Soundtraxx was surviving on 3 generic
steam Tsunamis for 3? + years. After a wait of approximately the same time
the diesel units are finally for sale. I just bought a LOT of them. These
are ALL for the 1 amp mostly HO market. The release of the rumored higher
amp rating units is "we are working on them". (Unknown) The higher amp units
almost have to be larger in size. I guess we will see. I just bought a 3 amp
LokSound unit for a friend in O Scale. We picked out a new motor for his Max
Gray NYC H10 that is a SIX amp stall! If the Tsunami was available I am sure
he would have wanted that instead. My big point is, how long do you want to
wait for the rumored higher amp rating units? I am and will take my chances
of frying the 1 amp Tsunamis, but I REALLY don't think it is going to
happen. If you are worried about it that much put another locomotive in the
train. You could also save yourself a ton of money and just install a motor
decoder of they will hold you over until the higher amp Tsunamis are
available. At least you can run the loco....

Thank You,
Bill Lane
