Only one thing wrong - we always kept the knuckle closed on the leading end so something (snow, etc,) couldn't foul the latching mechanism in the open position.

As seen in the illustrations, the new HO couplers is a MUCH better design and is extremely easy to assemble as far as getting the pieces to line up for smooth operation is concerned. This design is foolproof, and shows the "minimum" level of quality we we can expect "IF" the Sergent S coupler is upgraded (minimum, because I expect the 2nd version S and 3rd version HO to be even better than the current version of their HO coupler) : > > 1. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SergentHOAssemblyInstructionsPage1.jpg > > 2. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SergentHOAssemblyInstructionsPages2-3.jpg > > Additionally, I took time to install some of my old version and new version HO Sergent couplers on one of my Athearn Genesis F-3 models last night and photographed them for all to see the INCREDIBLE improvement in appearance over the other couplers, as well as the contrast between the old Sergent and the new (see below) : > > 01. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-01.jpg > > 02. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-02.jpg > > 03. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-03.jpg > > 04. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-04.jpg > > 05. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-05.jpg > > 06. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-06.jpg > > 07. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-07.jpg > > 08. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-New-08.jpg > > 09. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-01.jpg > > 10. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-01.jpg > > 11. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-02.jpg > > 12. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-03.jpg > > 13. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-04.jpg > > 14. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/Sergent-HO-Old-05.jpg > > And lastly... here is a side-by-side comparison of the Sergent S coupler with the original and the re-designed Sergent HO coupler : > > 1. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SergentComparison.jpg > > 2. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SergentComparison00.jpg > > 3. http://www.trainweb.org/seaboard/SergentComparison01.jpg > > > John Degnan > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
