Hi All, I finished a little project last week I have wanted to get to for a while.
I have pretty much considered the Kadee coupler height gauge to be like the key to the gas station bathroom; if it is not attached to a cider block or some other large object you are never going to find it when you need it. I mounted them to a strip of wood with track. Since they are very handy when built like that, they seem to wander away from me. There are at least 2 of them lost in the far away land and 1 is closer but is doing PSM duties. I give you the Magnum Force Coupler Test Bed http://www.lanestrains.com/Coupler_Test_Track.jpg It can test the coupler height of your S Scale equipment or if in the hands of a properly trained person, be a worthy weapon. Tests for the latter are still pending, but its killer for checking coupler height. It is a piece of SHS flex track attached to 1/8 x 2 aluminum flat bar with liberal amounts of clear silicone adhesive. It is 24" long overall to accommodate full length Pullmans etc. The Kadee coupler height gauges are attached with 8-32 screws tapped into the aluminum flat bar. I currently still have the knuckles in the couplers, but have thought about removing them. For additional security there are RFID tags placed under the coupler height gauges. As soon as the unit breaks the plane of the doorway frame of the coupler height testing room, steel spikes are shot at the hinterlands of the unknowing Perp incapacitating him on the spot. Ok, so that part is not true... or is it? Come try and take it from me to find out!
