I tell everyone that I model in S scale, that it is not a toy model railroad.
That the layout is as prototypical as possible and that the trains run slow
like the real ones! I also show comparisons between AF and scale in wheel sets,
couplers and so on, that really gets my point across to most visitors.
It at times is a tough sell and other times I wonder if the visitor gets it.
Plus the fridge is always full of good stuff!
But over all I don't give a darn, its old and beat, [like me!] but its my S
scale model railroad.
Most times over all, they leave with favorable comments. Most used is; "My how
long did it take you to put all this together?" - My answer: Oh! Only 40 some
years!
I also give each visitor a "This is S scale" NASG pamphlet, inside it has a
letter explaining my model railroad, and a copy of a S gaugian article on my
Jefferson Central.
Have a good day,
Bill Fraley
