Andy,  Contrary to Canadian law, in the US you, as the author retain the 
copyright to your work unless specifically signed away in a contract.  I 
don't advise anybody to sign any contracts that give the publisher 
rights they don't need.   What this means is, you write and article and 
submit it to MR,MRC or some other magazine.  What you want to do is sign 
a contract for 'one time publication' and take your money, no more.  Any 
more is a little like greedy Wall Street and you know what happened there!
