I had opportunity today to measure a standard gauge Plymouth critter. http://www.ironhorsecentral.com/about2.html When I returned home I checked the dimensions of an "HO" Plymouth critter. See photo with an S scale F unit at http://trainweb.org/mhrr/ho-s-o/ply-d.html http://trainweb.org/mhrr/ho-s-o/ho-s-o-rolling.html
The length and height of the "HO" critter when measured with an S scale "ruler" are nearly dead on exactly right. The hood is a bit wide, presumably to make room for the motor? The cab is too narrow, as if modeled from a narrow gauge cab. The real one I measured looks like this http://www.northeast.railfan.net/diesel123.html Cab is 9' wide. The "HO" model looks similar to this http://www.northeast.railfan.net/images/hess2926.jpg I say take the "HO" version, use it as is for Sn3, build a wider cab and running boards for it for S standard gauge and you'll be extremely close to correct. -- Ted Larson ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
