The trucks that Dick Lind is talking about are not made anymore. It has been a
number of years since Ertl made these trucks. If you find some, get them now.
You can often find them on ebay.
The mack B-61 is a nice truck. From a pure scalers view point, the stack is
to big (diameter) and the rear wheels are a sclae 6" to wide. The rear wheels
can be fixed essily. Just pull them off, cut about 1/8" off of the inside of
the wheel, and put them back on. There is enough excess on the wheels to cut
off. I bought a lot of them (about 30 or so I like trucks) a few years ago to
modify. I have only done a couple so far. My favorite is to make dump trucks
out of them. I made a resin dump body and I have to lengthen the frame of the
truck. The Mack would look good with other bodies also.
The Chevrolets are trucks form about the late 40's into the early 50's. If
you check them out close, the cab is the same on the pick up as the truck with
the grain body. Just larger wheels and tires on the grain truck, just like the
prototype. A person could have fun putting different bodies on these Chev's
also.
The trailers that come with the Mack B-61 (again from scalers point of
view) is a little to wide. Another project, make a low boy semi trailer. The
tractors are run of the mill Ertl 1/64 tractors. The tractors are Ford, IH
(farmall), and John Deere. You may be able to find some at any of the mentioned
tractor dealers.
I don't know if Ertl still makes the farm animals. They are ok and the
price is right. In this part of the upper midwest, we have Fleet & Farm and
Farm & Fleet stores. They usually have Ertl toys at Christmas time. You might
find them at Wal mart, Target ect.
