Well John, you were right! I stayed up late last night camped outside
my engine house in the town of Madra. At about 2 am a vintage Nash
Rambler (precursor to the AM Gremlin) drove up and two Gremlins got out
carrying bolt cutters. A couple minutes later they were caught inside
the 10 wheeler's tender starting to nip at the wires--seems as though
there's a market for copper! The Gremlins have four legs, three arms,
and a glowing forehead making them ideal for crawling into dark places,
lighting them up and quickly scrapping copper wire! (Don't you wish you
had three hands and a small light on your forehead to light into tiny
closed areas).
I eliminated the problem by hooking up a new wiring harness. I traced
the wires from the respective solder joints to the mini connectors and
everything was fine. The little Canon motor turned over without
problem. I tried a different decoder using the original wiring harness
and it was still dead. So I replaced the harness with new soldered mini
connectors and the little fellow started right up this AM. So the
problem is with the socket end of the wires or the crimped connection in
the Soundtraxx plug--about 2 inches of wire.
