Dear Group:
This was being sold at TrainFeat. It is about 25 minutes of the 35
minute film. The originals have been destroyed but they had three
prints. These were enough to recover 25 minutes, digitize, restore
color, etc. Since then another five prints have surfaced so they are
now revising and adding the missing 10 minutes.
This film was created by Kalmbach as a parody on our hobby and should
never have been released to the general public. I was lucky enough to
be working in a library at the time as projectionist. I never got tired
of watching the dancing girls in hot pants. Today they are NOT
politically correct. (Even in 1975 there were rumblings.) There was a
big sign in the booth telling us that the dancing girls are NOT included
in the current 25 minutes and the next version will include them --
reservations being taken now!
The film is hilarious. However you need 'inside knowledge' to get the
jokes. Like the joy of trying to rerail a car when everyone is
watching.
That 'side swipe' of a caboose is actually a carefully done 'near miss'.
It was done at slow speed on an O Scale layout, sped up, and spliced
into the movie. "Such clips and the ladies get your heart a-pumpin'"
reports this (then) 17 year-old who already had 14 years of S Gauge
experience.
