Northern California O Scale West + S -- Largest S scale show west of the Mississippi!
There will be S standard and narrow gauge dealers, including Howard'S Trains, PBL, River Raisin Models, Southwind Models, as well as others. Clinics will be on topics such as making trees and creating your own decals. Ken Reiter, the electronics guru for Ed Loizeaux will be doing a presentation, and there will be a panel discussion about layout planning, operation, and maintenance by S, Sn3 & O scale layout owners. The events also include the showing of railroad videos, and contests. The BASS club will have their modular layout up and running (DC & DCC) bring your equipment to run on the layout, a Digitrax control system will be available. Equipment must meet NASG standards. The McKenzie brothers will be showing their fantastic Sn3 logging layout that includes the realistic and beautiful trees they will teach you to make in their clinic. Offsite layouts include: - Ed Loizeaux's S & Sn3 scale NYC: The New York Central operates through the Catskill Mountains region with over 300+ feet of doubletrack mainline. Numerous large bridges, viaducts, waterfalls, river rapids, tunnels and other scenic attractions abound. This nearly-finished layout offers a spectacular backdrop and beautiful scenery and flawless operation - Arden Goehring's S scale UP Sherman Hill: This huge layout occupies a 1,600 square foot building and is inspired by UP's arduous crossing of the Rocky Mountains at Sherman Hill. Big Boys and 40 car reefer trains are the norm on this fantastic layout. - Don Harper's Sn3 Harper Valley Railroad. This spectacular layout is based on the Rio Grande narrow gauge and West Side Lumber Co, and was one of the featured layouts in BASS 2009 S/Sn3 calendar and several of the leading model railroad magazines - We also hope to have Mike Schwab's Sn3 San Juan Central Railroad. This very detailed layout is based on Colorado narrow gauge, and was also featured in BASS 2009 calendar. The meet cars are Southern Pacific 53'6" & 40' flat cars kits manufactured by Wiseman Models Services and distributed by Howard'S Trains. Bulkhead kits are also available. See flyer for costs, details & pictures - I just uploaded the flyer in the files section.
