oh yeah, believe me, being in the shipping business for 30 years, insurance is
a must! Period, end of discussion! If anything can go wrong, it is when you
don't insure! It's like the  package gods know when a package is not insured,
ir under insured.

ALWAYS insure for full replacement value (list price!).

self insuring is an option, but you are on the hook sooner or later for a
package.

overseas signatures through the mail can be tedious at the counter (depends on
the counter person, and their knowledge or lack of knowledge of the services
they are there to provide!), the web is great to see what services are and are
not available for us here in the States.

I prefer to ship UPS as I get a pickup every day, and I know there system
inside and out.

anyone have any GULF  S-Scale America tank cars out there?????

Well, yes and no. Some sellers insist -- properly --that parcels be
insured and that someone on the receiving end must sign for the
package. It ensures that the buyer won't later claim that the parcel
never arrived or was damaged in transit. Those terms, of course,
should be stated in the seller's description of the item.

I'd NEVER ship a valuable item to a stranger without insurance and a
signed acknowledgment of delivery.
