Hi Graham,

That has been done on the Donner Pass many times.  A friend of mine 
used to work MofW on Donner Pass.  Even with rail anchors it would 
still creep.  He was telling stories in the switchmen's shanty the 
other day about hearing the rail moving and the noise it made.
