Ed; maybe we should be checking our shoes!

You must be proud and very happy for your son. I look forward to meeting him.

Subject: {S-Scale List} An NS Conductor gets started ......

Gents....My son recently retired after 22+ years in the USArmy and duty in
Afghan, Iraq, Korea, Texas (a foreign place?), Kansas, Arizona (Yuma Proving
Grounds), N. Carolina and other places he is not allowed to talk about
(countries bordering on Mother Russia). Now that he is collecting a
passable pension, he decided to put his interest and knowledge of model
railroading (HO and S) to good use. So he signed on with the NS and
embarked on their training program. Just today, he graduated from training
and is now marked up as a full fledged Conductor. He says the little trains
are somewhat less exciting now that he can play with the big ones. The
average time in the Piedmont Division to become an Engineer is about four or
five years. He is looking forward to that very much. Being a Conductor is
just the required way to get to be an Engineer. He says his model train
knowledge was very helpful as he breezed through training while others,
hired off the street, were struggling with terminology and concepts that he
has known since high school. So if anyone wants to know how things are done
in this modern day and age on NS's Piedmont Division, there is a new
resource we can tap into. He is already creating (in his mind) a clinic on
prototypical operations to be presented at some future model railroad
convention(s). He is going to tell us all the things we do that are
completely wrong. Check your guns and tomatoes at the door. Cheers....Ed
  L.
