Got my Southern waffle kits in the mail today. Just one word: fantastic! The level of detail is outstanding! Can't stop looking at the underframe. Beautiful.
After reading the comprehensive and well illustrated instructions, I plunged right in and started. Within a few minutes I had the underframe fitted in. Not much shaping or sanding to do at all. From first impressions, this kit looks easy to build. Decaling might take the most time; there is a lot of lettering to apply. The kit came with roller bearing trucks with spinning bearing caps. The truck castings look clean and the wheelsets are blackened with polished treads. Anxious to see how well they go together but they sure do look great. The Annville Car shops are going to be busy next couple of weeks during Christmas break finishing some projects but it will be hard not to stay away from these waffle kits. Big shout out to Jim King and Smoky Mountain Model Works! (http://www.smokymountainmodelworks.com) You have one happy customer here. Thanks!
