I converted a Rex 0-6-0 some years ago. It is 3/4 finished (like a lot of
things here). I cut the tender steps out, cut another hole in the opposite
side of the tender, and then epoxied the steps into the correct side of the
tender. That was the hardest die cast metal I have ever experienced.

I do not know who cast the brass firebox "cap" but I think the casting firm
kept the pattern. I got the casting from JOHN Sudimac way back.
If Terry Putt has the pattern a casting could be made in a pewter type alloy.
Terry Putt is a very skilled machinist. He has a family. They all like to eat,
so professional work comes first. Terryis a quiet thoughtful person, loves the
trains (such as the real 3 foot RR in his 5 acre yard) His diesel switcher was
originally 4' 8 1/2" gauge to start with.
When all metal prices soared it affected his parts costs drastically. Now that
metal prices are way down, paying customers are gone?????????

Subject: {S-Scale List} Rex 0-6-0 PRR Detail Kit

Hello group. I am searching for the detail kit to convert a stanadard
Rex/Putt 0-6-0 into a PRR version. I believe this package of parts
consisted of Belpaire firebox corner castings, PRR style air tanks, and
PRR style marker lights for the engine and tender. I believe the kit
also contained a keystone plate for the smokebox front, but I don't
  need that part.

Anyone who has a spare set or two of these parts, please contact me off
  list. Many thanks!
