I'm still looking for information needed to model an 1880-1960's lime quarry
and kiln operation. Kilns were fired with wood, charcoal, or coal and were
often served by railroads. Supposedly there was an article in Railmodel
Journal, 3/04, page 56, by a Jim Cassidy and also one in Model Railroading
11/12-1985. This was a fairly common industry in the midwestern and
northeastern states then but so far, except for a couple of pictures and some
basic information about this industry, I have not really come up with anything
that will help me build such a model scene.
Can You help?
Chuck Porter
