This movie was the subject of an article in the Wall St. Journal and is
mentioned on page 152
in Rush Loving's book, The Men Who Loved Trains. Reportedly, Congress demanded
the film
be quashed. A friend who worked in Philadelphia for Conrail years later was
aware of the
film but could never find a copy. There is a difference of opinion about the
segment showing
a derailment at a hump yard. Some say it was staged, others say it happened
when a crew
was shooting for a training film and got an unexpected event. I tend to
believe the latter, as
the boxcar appears to be loaded and wallows in. If staged, I would expect
empties. Less
damage and easier to rerail.
