Rusty, I also have same observations regarding the subdivision of the
ebay lists. One of my best friends found a Southwind EM-1 on a list
from some kind of 'salvage' house. Apparently the engine was slightly
damaged in shipment so the carrier (UPS) paid the claim and kept the
engine where it finally ended up on ebay along with chrome wheels, tools
and whatnot. He got it for a couple hundred.
I don't know why folks list their items in the wrong lists but normally
it's their loss. Of course you always find folks who are listing stuff
for a departed relative and don't have a clue what they have.
I had the problem recently where I offered a AM engine+SHS caboose--what
list to put it on? I think we picked "other" by default. This
misplacing stuff on the lists is not unique on the S categories. If you
check out the DCC list you will find signals for Lionel, AF track trips
and other items that just don't make sense--at least to me.
