Welcome to the group, Roger!

Ian Wilson's books on the steam era in southern Ontario c1954 are the single
best source. I haven't seen his latest, Steam Echoes of Hamilton, yet. Check
Canadian Branchline Miniatures on the web.

The Canadian National SIG has been in operation for several years now and puts
out a glossy, illustrated periodical on various topics. It is both historical
and modelling oriented. The members of the SIG should be able to help with
questions. They, too, have a website.

Bayview Junction, which has been the most famous and accessible spot for
photographers, is probably the location you are thinking of. It is one
junction of three that form a large wye, including a connection with the
CP/TH&B, about three miles west of Hamilton itself. Hamilton Jct. itself is
seldom photographed because it is hard to access, but is the name of another of
the parts of the wye. It's at Bayview that trains from Toronto decide whether
they are going west toward London or east (south) to Hamilton, Niagara Falls or
Buffalo. In steam days, it also had a helper siding to boost heavy freights
and some passenger trains up Copetown hill, on the way to London.

The Junction area is also where CP, TH&B and, yes, NYC trains would connect to
CN's Oakville Subdivision to use their trackage rights to Toronto. In steam
days, NYC and CP were joint owners of TH&B (NYC was majority owner) and through
passenger power from all three, as well as rolling stock, would pass through
Bayview. The NYC Hudsons and TH&B Pacifics & Hudsons were turned at CP's John
St. roundhouse in downtown Toronto.

Hope this helps. ... pqr

  Hi everybody!

I've been a CNR fan ever since.
I would like to model Hamilton Junction in "S" scale. Can anyone
help me as to how find the necessary information to do so? Thanks!
