I just uploaded two files showing how I installed 8-wheel electrical
pickup on my Locomotive Workshop Alco RS-1's, #'s 30 & 33 in the last
couple of days.

#33 served as the "guinea pig" for this project, thus appears a little
different. After I almost destroyed it in the process, and spent as
much time repairing it as adding the pickup, I came up with a better
way for #30.

I devised a system for #30 whereby the trucks assemble and disassemble
easily in a designated sequence, making the process much easier in
time of necessity (sorta like the teeth in my mouth, which also
disassemble for ease of cleaning and servicing, etc.). I may rework
#33 at a later time, but for now, "it works - leave it alone" is the
order of the day

The phosphor bronze pickup strips move with the sideframes as the
truck equalizes, thus maintaining steady contact with the wheels.

SHABBONA RR construction is progressing. I can now back trains to
Bonaparte and Mt. Zion to "stage" them for arrival at Mooar Yard and
the Terminal District and run a semblance of scheduled operation.

The other day, I ran a transfer train from Mooar to Terminal District,
switched it out and turned it for the return trip, then backed in the
clear to await the arrival of the passenger train, which was "out of
Mt. Zion".

Since, due to the layout design, I couldn't see the passenger train as
it proceeded towards the Terminal District, I felt a little twinge of
that prototype anticipation pending its arrival. Pretty soon, it
showed up and pulled past the yard switch and through the crossover to
the KUD tracks. I then lined the transfer job out of the storage
tracks and through the City Crossover to head back to Mooar and clear
up for the afternoon commuter run out of Powdertown.

Model Railroading is Serious Business!
