Enhorning/et al:

While I can appreciate understanding the history of S scale, as a relative
newcomer, I am far more interested in its future.

I do have a slight nostalgic view of a few pieces of Postwar Lionel.
However, I find I don't have any true nostalgia for yesterday's "scale"
models. Even the "state of the art" HO models of my youth have much less
fidelity than what is offered today. Here a few years back, as a tip of the
hat toward my first HO "scale" train set from the early 60's, I purchased an
old Lindberg HO model kit of a car that was in the long-gone set. "Back
then" Lindberg's stuff was pretty impressive. Compared to what is now
offered in HO, it is quite crude.

I'll bet it's the same with S scale. Compared to current S scale "state of
the art", yesteryear's models are crude, and I suspect they run lousy.

As a contrast to other areas of my life, in scale model trains I have no
longings for "the way things were". Nope, I'm more interested in "today's" S
scale, and for sure, how our importers and "mfg'ers" are going to cope with
the Sanda Kan situation. Instead of wondering what liveries were offered on
diesel models 50 years ago, I'm much more interested in what roadnames are
heading my way from SHS, AM, etc.

Guess I'm weird in this respect?

Ah well... just another opinion from the S scale populace!
