I picked up several Wabash shells, including a pair of B units. They have
the A unit detail on the side, so adding a third port hole window in the
middle is the first bit of detail that needs to be added. And if you think
I didn't smooth the louvers off, I really did that before adding the extra
port hole window. Don Thompson sold me F3 fan details for a very reasonable
price. BTS sells brass details, including number boards. HO wing
window/mirrors from Detail Associates for GP/SD 40's scale out very nice for
the F3's. Since I'm painting my shells black for SP Blackwidow paint, I
decided the extra work on the ends wasn't needed, just me getting tired of
cutting and splicing... But since SHS has such a nice F3 out, I've boxed my
Wabash shells for a project down the road. Also I picked up an AM FP7 frame
cut down for powering one of the F3's. My next plan of attack is NWSL wheel
sets for the trucks from Enhorning and powering it with the guts of the
small RC cars now available for the cheap price. These won't pull any
stumps but a short train of light PRS cars should work.
