Well, the last day of layout tours "before the convention" then it is off to
Duluth. It has been a great time seeing friends and visiting the layouts with
them. The Minnesota Heartland has enjoyed a wonderful group of visitors
including a couple of guys from the other side of town who are now new Pines
and Prairies S Scale Workshop members. Mention was made of the Imagine That
booth, I did visit them and brought home one of everything I could to show in
Duluth. Much of what I bought has been claimed by PPSSW guys already. They
make a great industrial wall system in HO but told me it is also available in
S. I wanted different window arrangements and they said not a problem. Steve
Doyle, Dave Hamilton and I are going to put together a wish list for pieces we
need to create backdrops and send it off in the next couple of weeks.
The Badgerland and Chicago S groups had a great modular layout. There was also
a great sectional layout there that won first place in the module competition.
I regret I don't have my notes here to give you the couple who built and showed
it. Another quick note, a company called Train Cat was there with brass
bridges that looked great. he was going to make them in S but stopped because
he was told someone was doing them. It was mentioned that it has been years of
waiting and so he may do his girder bridge system in S if he gets some gentle
nudging. I am going to follow up with him after Dul;uth.
Gotta go, more guests are here and then I am heading north!
