FOLKS:
I received the mail below on the Yahoo B&S list. I think, especially the
STL guys, will find the links somewhat interesting. Pay special attention to
the graphic head on the "conventionmanufacturers" link. Three pictures with two
of them showing vendors who have traditionally marketed to S-heads, Heimburger
and Banta. I found that arrangement somewhat ironic. Bill, though, as of some
months ago announced that, except for special projects, which I'm taking to
mean further expansion of the Malinowski adaptations from O to S, he was going
to abandon S all together. If you check his site, he has been true to his word;
only the S headers remain with no products illustrated. Bill marches to his own
drummer. I did notice what I would consider to be three "holes" in the vendor
list: Bar Mills, FOS Ltd. and Anderson Models. These traditionally show up at
the NG shows and are conspicuous by their absence. Otherwise, the vendor list
is a nice aggregation of all kinds of providers and manufacturers. I think this
show is well worth the price of admission. NASG, for years now, has always
planned to have a presence at the NG show but always starts the process a day
late and dollar short as all of them seem to sell out a year in advance.
Believe me; I've been there and done that.

Now wait! There are 28 layouts on tour over a 5 day period. Many of the
layouts incorporate standard gauge with the narrow gauge. Some, such as Gary
Hoover's and Eric Brooman's layouts have been featured in the Model Railroader
and Craftsman for years. Plus the tours are all free!

As far as the convention itself, we have over 110 manufacturers and vendors
attending in the 35,000 square foot St. Charles Convention Center just west of
St. Louis. These include manufacturers that produce structures, scenery, track,
tools, detail parts, DCC components and other products that can be used on any
layout.

Also, in the morning and evening at the adjoining hotel, Embassy Hotel, there
will be approximately 50 clinics on topics such as tree making, carving
stonework, photography, weathering, 5 different clinics on scenery, and other
non-gauge related subjects.

Of course if your interest is narrow gauge there is even more for you.
The Convention runs from Wednesday evening Sept. 1 thru Sat. Sept. 4. The cost
for all this is only $85 for all 4 days and $35 for a one day admission if you
register before Aug. 1. See our website - 30ngconvention. org.
Hope to see you in St. Louis.
