Unlike other convention goers that have posted, Deane & I have not yet made it
back home - our trip is ~1700 miles and almost 27 hours driving, not including
stops. (Our son took the easy route and flew on to Arizona for another two
weeks vacation.) We made a few stops along the way home yesterday to visit
layouts (Ken Zieska, Steve Doyle, and Dave Jasper) and today to visit (and
leave cash :-) ) that great midwest hobby shop called Des Plaines Hobbies (nice
new larger shop a few hundred feet from ths old location). If all goes as
planned we'll roll into home Tuesday night.

Like many other posters we want to say how much we really enjoyed the
convention and pre/post activities. And extend our thanks to the Pines &
Prairies group for their hospitality and organizing and running a great
convention. It was a jam packed convention - but we managed to fit in all the
rail tours (plus GlenSheen on our own pre-convention) & driving a full size
locomotive, along with bidding in the silent auction, time in the vendor hall
to browse & purchase, along with promoting Pine Canyon Scale Models and
selling some of our in-production kits. All capped off with a super banquet,
excellent keynote (Tony Koester), and the live auction with auctioneer and
comedian Jamie Bothwell. And of course visiting with friends across the
hobby...My majot regret was missing several excellent clinics (have we ever
considered videotaping these and making a post convention replay available?).

Congratulations to the 2010 NASG Award winners:
- Bernie Thomas Award - Ron & Susan Sebastian
- Charlie Sandersfeld Award - Grand River Models
- S scale article - Paul Scoles

Again our thanks to all involved and a special thanks to Jan & Walt Jopke.

Hope to see you all in Sacramento in 2011 if not before! And don't forget to
get your orders in for the new S freight cars and load that will be released
for the 2011 convention.

Regards,
Michael Greene
