Geeze, I'm afraid to get in on this as my layout is so old.

I use most of the switches mentioned and many that I made myself and most
need adjusting at one time or another. If I'm getting company, I run the
trains and look for problems as I don't run my trains everyday anymore.

Many of my friends use Shinohara turnouts with much success. Lately "Fast
Track" seems the way to go for accuracy, that is if you are up to building
your own turnouts. Our Stan Furmanak is an expert at using the "Fast track"
jig and has built many for other members of our Lehigh Valley Club.

It seems to me that over the years we needed turnouts and were very thankful
for Shinohara, but from what I've been reading on this list, there are a lot
of experts now modeling in S and they want their turnouts to be exacting.

Oh, to be young again, were I young again and building a new layout, I would
use S Helpers Service, or American Models track systems when it was time to
lay out my new track. I most likely would also use the "Fast Track" jig and
I would also be in DCC.

I do not mean to knock anyone else and their work, it just means that you
have to adjust to NMRA/NASG standards what you buy, or build them
yourselves, it has been an age old problem with our S scale model railroads.

Nothing seems to change, does it?

Best Wishes on your track laying endeavors and just go and run the trains!

That is if you have a layout to run them on ..

"S"incerely,

 Bill (Fraley)
