Tom,

I certainly do. We put a grouping of trees in a file type box with
styrofoam mounted in the bottom. I then glue each tree to the foam. We
then pack the rest of the box with typical peanuts. You can purchase
smallish trees without a wood trunk for as little as $3.50 to a large
tree with wooden trunk for about $10. For large trees the size of the
box will dictate the height.

When I first started making them, I ran into a size dilemma. A mature
conifer tree, especially first growth might be one hundred feet in
height (or two PRS 50' cars as an easy scale). Now if you check the
scale of such a tree against your layout's mountains, it makes the
mountain look pretty small! On the other hand, if you use small trees
(maybe 3") it will look like a Christmas tree farm. Most of my trees
range from young ones, about 3", to about 9". It's nice to put your
smaller ones on the mountain tops to help make the mountains a little
larger.
