Bob,

A look a Lowe's.com, shows they stock a gray granite in sacks or
bags,,,,doesn't give much in the area of size, guess you could try a sack and a
hammer.

The absolute Ballast Capitol of the World is Cotter Arkansas, in the Missouri
and Northern Arkansas yard, the cars of roofing granules coming out of Little
Rock to Joplin, MO to the Tamko plant sit in the yard a times and they leak
making mounds of colored limestone granules...there are tons of ballast in
there...gotta watch out it is about 75 pounds to a 5 gallon bucket and ya gotta
get up out of the hollar.

  Subject: {S-Scale List} "Decomposed Granite"

A while back, someone on this list mentioned using decomposed granite for
ballast, and had picked up a bag of it at Lowe's for about $5.00.

Well, the Lowe's in Burlington, IA doesn't even know what I'm talking about
when I ask for it. What department would I find it in, so I can show them what
they carry?
