Hi Bob and all --

I did that too, but used .03 square styrene aligned with the axle so it
doesn't show. This only sort of remained in place on its own, so glue was
needed. If you body mount couplers, this also improves coupler height.

Have fun!

taking a picnic to the local pine forest and lakes 10 minutes away)

---I bought an American Models streamlined shorty coach, ... but it always
seemed to ride a little high, which gave it a gangly... look compared to my
other passenger equipment. This is because the springs keep the journals at
the extreme end of their travel, against the keepers.
--- I solved the dilemma by putting .030" styrene "pillow blocks" under the
journals, which raises them approximately 2 scale inches while lowering the
car the same amount. The styrene is .030" by .125" and cut into 1/16"
lengths so they will rest on the keepers.
This makes the journals rest at about half way through their travel, as if
the car is actually depressing them as would the prototype.
I didn't even have to glue them in place, so if anyone wants to try it and
don't like it, you can take them out again, but in my eyes, the improvement
in appearance is well worth the small amount of effort to acquire it.
