This is a manufacturer that's been doing HO- and
N-scale structures and decided to venture out into S due to the prodding
of one of our list members. - Peter

This is not totally accurate. John Gibson, of the BASS club, got the ball
rolling on this project only because he wanted the kit for his own use. In
order for Joe Warren, Showcase Miniatures, to up-scale his original HO kit to
S, he told John he had to have a minimum of 50 orders. John began soliciting
orders, but he fell short. John then petitioned the NASG BOT to help with
underwriting this project. The BOT drew up a contract with Joe that guaranted
the 50-kit minimum knowing full well that 22 of the kits were already spoken
for. While all initial orders were honored, the remainer of the kits at a
slight discount were offered by the BOT to NASG members only. All 50 kits were
sold and the project was turned back over to Joe Warren for his further
promotion/sales through Showcase Miniatures. As witnessed within the past few
days herein, the kit remains in good favor with the S-Heads.

A built-up prototype and order form appeared in the roster edition of the NASG
"Dispatch" in 2006, and a dolled-up version with lighting and detail items
appeared in the "Dispatch" later that year. If you are an NASG member you can
see the model in its "raw" and/or enhanced iterations by digging out your past
"Dispatch" issues. Just yet another reason for belonging to and supporting NASG.
