Wouldn't the cars have had DUTCH doors for passengers, no gate needed then.
WESTERM MD SCENIC uses a Shop made" gate on the baggage car doors and
windows. Expanded metal in an angle iron frame, about 42" high across bagggage
doors IF memory still works.
Rode many an excursion with "DutchDoor" cars before AMTRAK did away with
them. Undoubtedly a "Lawyer Preventive" measure. Not feasible to open the
doors on current AMTRAK eqpt, when moving w/o consequences..
