Ed, It sounds like you may have a GP 9 with the hi rail gears with scale wheels. Get the slow gears from AM with scale wheels and might solve your problem. other wise change motors to a can motor, Sagami, NWSL, or a Maxon. I have had to do that on almost all AM locos. Thanks Bert Cutler

I've tried to adjust CV02,CV06 and CV05 according to the Digitrax manual but I can't slow the engine down. As soon as I open the throttle, the engine starts and speeds up like a toy engine as the throttle increases. Any suggestions on how to change the CVS or otherwise slow this engine down?
