Hi Jace, IIRC P48 is basically prototype wheel dimensions scaled down, there
may be a little bit of adjustment to make it easier to manufacture the stuff
but if so it is minor.
The steam era Harlem transfer had 90 foot radius curves so 40 foot cars can
run around pretty tight curves. Just for fun I built a 90 foot HO test loop and
found that P87 equipment could get around it just fine so I'd have no problem
using P64 for operation as well as looks. The problem would be the cost of
replacing the already usable S scale wheelsets with more expensive custom
parts, but if they started making everything in S as P64 I'd go for it......dave
