Just got my first peek this AM at my, note, purchased Howard's Trains'
nameless 1:64 bungalow laser-cut kit. While the jury will remain out until I
can actually do hands-on construction, let me write that, at first sight, I'm
impressed. Why you ask? Howard's and his laser contractor, Sidetrack, have
taken the time to actually etch part names into the sprues where any confusion
might arise due to similar appearances of like parts. The finished model will
fit in quite well with other, previously-produced residence housing from
Mountain Engineering, Branchline, BTS, Am. Modelbuilders and, if you can find
them, Banta. This kit, however, in no way architecturally resembles any of the
past offerings by any vendor save whoever brought out the Sears 1:1 mail-order
kit a couple of decades-ago but not to be confused with the Sears kit now
offered by Raggs to Riches. Howard's has no web site but can be reached at
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> or 707-961-0186. Price is $95 + $5 s&h.
