Ed, You may be thinking of the basic kit that ACE, (Walter Graeff), sold many years ago. Basically it was two end blocks, a roof sections and a floor section that you were supposed to glue Permabilt sides, ends, roof, etc onto, then use ACE combination bolsters and trucks to complete the car.
