Well Tom, I had put in the plaster earth forms depicting a gorge many
years ago and put in some boulders and trees which actually looked
okay. However at the bottom of the gorge there is a smallish stone
bridge. I filled the area with small rocks then used the 2 part resin
in about a 8 oz cup. I went to the high end and poured slowly. The
resin flowed in some of the correct areas. I mixed some additional
stuff and poured near the lower area under the bridge. So it looks now
like a very small stream is running down to a pool. I think someplace I
have an Artistia or Railmaster dude with a fishing rod I can plant in
position.
Incidentally, I stopped in during lunch to my local HS and picked up the
MR with Rod Stewart's layout. I then checked out why they didn't carry
large contains of Floquil thinner--apparently it's no longer made. They
want to soak you $5 per ounce for the stuff in little bottles--not for
me! I understand standard lacquer thinner will also work.
I've also checked out some of the layouts on tour this weekend. One
layout in the early stages of construction has one interesting thing I
need to check out--he's using his I-phone as a DCC throttle. I wonder
if I can call him and then change the direction of his train!
Has anyone viewed the new movie about the runaway train? Denzel
Washington is the lead actor I believe. Unfortunately there have been
several runaway train movies over the years and so far none have been
anywhere near authentic--way too many well placed grabirons and roof
hatches on boxcars!
