JR,
You mentioned you like to open the box and plop on the rails. I don't
believe you will find anything RTR in Sn42. You will have to be
comfortable with building whitemetal, pewter, brass and plastic kits
and kitbashing from other scales.
It's not as easy as taking s scale rolling stock, putting HO trucks on
them and an HO locomotive in front.
